Bio: Jim Keenan

Jim founded DBK/MARI over 20 years ago as a way of sharing expertise in leadership, coaching, organizational development and system integration.

At numerous high technology companies, Jim broke ground and established many business development ventures in his role as hardware/software engineer and subject matter expert (SME). He was a pioneer in e-commerce. He also spent years as a state supervisor for bilingual/multicultural education in the Massachusetts Dept. of Education. Jim was responsible for creating the document that was adopted as the state policy in this area in the early 1990s. Additionally, he spent over a decade in developing and leading
security organizations internationally, particularly in the Middle East.

Jim's resiliency practice has grown out of his more than four decades of study in Asian and Western martial arts and cultures. His expertise in integral transformative practice in individuals and organizations has been recognized at Ken Wilber's Integral Institute, where he has been invited to teach a number of times.

Jim has worked and taught internationally. He spent seven years doing organizational development work in Israel as part of the Baha'i World Centre. He was a charter member of the Conflict Management Institute in Israel and responsible for the creation of the CMI courses. He has also taught in Germany and the Republic of China. He served for five years as a member of the international Chinese Standardization Committee.

When he's not doing other consulting work, Jim is a producer for Cine Nur, a Massachusetts-based film company.

Education:
Jim did his undergraduate work in languages (Spanish, French and German) and Political Science at Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. He has done graduate work in Computer Science, Chinese, Medieval History, and Applied Linguistics. His Master's degree is in Multicultural Education from the University of Massachusetts. He holds basic and advanced certificates in Chinese from the Defense Language Institute.

Personal Information
Jim is a guitarist and percussionist, occasionally performing professionally. He is a prize-winning miniature painter. He is the author and translator of several books on Chinese martial arts. He is at home in a number of languages other than English and lately is devoting time to Persian and Arabic. He lives outside Boston, MA, USA.
